2016 Hyundai iMax & iLoad Series II now on sale in Australia

Hyundai has unveiled its Series II update for the iMax and iLoad, complete with a new look and generous amount of equipment.

2016 Hyundai iMax iLoad Series II

The Series II iMax and iLoad now come standard with a 7.0-inch touch-screen infotainment system, complete with iOS and Android voice control, as reported by PD in November.

Significant updates for the Series II include cruise control, standard on all diesel automatic variants, as well as driver and front passenger front and side airbags, and a rear-view camera as standard on liftback iMax and iLoad models.

Aesthetically speaking, Hyundai has redesigned the front grille, added a chrome surround, as well as restyled bumpers on both models. According to Hyundai, both have a more “passenger car-like cabin ambience”, with a more premium steering wheel complete with controls, as well as an improved gear knob. The iMax also receives new-design 16-inch alloys and fog lamps.

“Indeed, in October both variants claimed runner-up segment shares in their respective People-Mover and Van/CC 2.5-3.5t market segments,” said Hyundai COO Scott Grant. He added:

“Thanks to their impressive new array of premium high-tech features and with increased local supply now guaranteed, we’re confident our new iMax and iLoad Series II variants will be even more popular with Australian buyers.”

Series II carries over the same range of powertrains, with a 2.4-litre DOHC sequential MPI petrol or 2.5-litre CRDi turbo-diesel with either waste-gate or variable-geometry turbocharging, depending on transmission

The 2.4-litre Theta II petrol engine produces 127kW at 6000rpm and 224Nm maximum at 4200rpm. The 2.5-litre CRDi diesel engine with a wastegate turbocharger produces 100kW maximum power at 3800rpm and 343Nm between 1500-2500rpm. With variable-geometry turbocharging the 2.5 CRDi engine produces the same 125kW/441Nm as before.
