Subaru BRZ does 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in 6.4 seconds – report

If you’ve been wondering what the new Subaru BRZ will do in the 0-100km/h sprint in real-world conditions, like us, a report from the US has put it to the test and achieved 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in 6.4 seconds.

MotorTrend achieved the time despite other publications only achieving around the 7.4 seconds mark. One of the reasons for this was said to be due to the BRZ’s transmission which needs a gear change right at 59mph. MotorTrend hasn’t mentioned such issues.

In the quarter mile test, the Subaru BRZ achieved a 14.9-second run at 154km/h. This puts it about on par with a Volkswagen Golf GTI, which is front-wheel drive, and a Mazda3 MPS, also front-drive.

In terms of sports rear-wheel drive cars that are around the same market segment, there aren’t any currently on sale. The times are around the same as the old S15 Nissan 200SX though.

Head over to MotorTrend for all the test results.

What do you mean by it needs a gear change at 59mph?

      Hi Alec,
According to those reports, the rev limiter cuts in right at 59mph in second or third gear (or whatever gear it is), meaning some time is wasted to change up a gear to reach that 60mph point.
      Cheers,
      PD
