For Sale: 1930s Ford hotrod with twin-turbo Ferrari engine

Mitchell Jones

The hotrod scene is always a showcase of creativity and innovation, even though most rodders typically stick to the Ford body and small-block Chev formula. Every now and then, however, a hotrod comes along that makes jaws smack the floor.

This incredible example on Craigslist is a 32 Ford with the heart of Maranello. In place of the usual American iron sits a Ferrari 3.0-litre V8 engine usually found inside the 1989 308. Strapped to it are two Turbonetics hairdryers siting proudly at the front, feeding to a 9.1:1 compression ratio. But don’t worry, the Ferrari scream is still present as it still revs to 8500rpm. Doing so will unleash 708kW of Italian horse liquid.

Other notable features include a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox, complete roll cage, full independent rear suspension with 15-inch discs that look like finned drums, and four-piston calipers. Rolling stock is via 18-inch Alan Lee rims and Achilles slicks.

Finished in Vintage Flatz satin red (of course), the overall detailing and cleanliness of the car is nothing short of exquisite. Check out the ad linked above to see more of this rare piece of automotive innovation.
