While the UK awaits the arrival of the new 2012 Ford Fiesta ST, Ford UK has just announced an interim special edition model called the Ford Fiesta Metal, priced from £15,695 (approx $24,700 AUD).
The Ford Fiesta Metal special edition is equipped with a 1.6-litre Duratec Ti-VCT outputting 100kW at 6700rpm (up from 88kW in the regular Ford Fiesta Zetec-S) and 160Nm at 4250rpm. The Metal special edition is able to shoot from 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds.
The Ford Fiesta Metal special edition is based on the popular three-door 88kW Ford Fiesta Zetec-S. Unique features such as silver-stitched Ebony Black leather sports seats, floor mats with silver piping, silver front grille surround, chrome twin exhaust pipes, front fog light bezels, Piano Black painted centre console, stainless steel door scuff plates with Fiesta logo, 17inch black alloy wheels and sports-tuned suspension with lowered ride height make this Fiesta Metal quite a little charmer.
Only 1000 Ford Fiesta Metal special editions will be built, coming in just three colours – Panther Black, Midnight Sky and Frozen White. Anthony Ireson, Ford of Britain’s marketing director, said:
“This Ford Fiesta special edition gives the customer great exterior styling with an enhanced performance engine. Customers love that we create Fiestas with special features that prove to be real head-turners.”
The Ford Fiesta Metal special edition also gets all the usual safety acronyms: Intelligent Protection System (IPS), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Home Safe headlights, Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS), front, side and knee airbags and anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).
