Musk’s ‘Boring Company’ reveals boring-looking transit pod

Mitchell Jones

Elon Musk shocked the world when he unveiled another novel transport solution, in The Boring Company and his intention to create an underground network of tunnels and 200km/h electric sleds.

After introducing the world to self-driving electric cars and Hyerloop, this tunnel idea was something that makes you wonder why nobody else has thought of it.

There are two transport solutions for the pods. One is where you drive your car onto the platform and it submerges into tunnel network for fast travel. Another is a passenger pod, that until now hasn’t been detailed or pictured.

The passenger pod appears to be glass structure, with room for up to 10 people to sit or stand. Musk is a very busy man, but says The Boring Company only consumes 2-3 per cent of his time, suggesting there could have been more effort to come up with the design.

The first real progress for this project is hoped to be a 64km loop around Los Angeles that includes LAX, Santa Monica, Westwood, Sherman Oaks and Culver City.
