Pricing for the sleek new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class has been announced for the Australian market. The new four-door coupe comes in three main model lines; the CLA 200, CLA 250 Sport, and the cracking CLA 45 AMG.

Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 Edition 1, (C117), 2012

Starting with the base model CLA 200, power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 115kW of power and 250Nm of torque. It’s the most fuel efficient of the trio, offering an average consumption rating of just 5.7L/100km.

Standard features for the CLA 200, and indeed across the complete range – or where otherwise stated – include 18-inch alloy wheels, THERMOTRONIC climate control, a Becker MAP PILOT satellite navigation unit, and a reversing camera.

Stepping up into the 250 Sport, the compact four-door coupe is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing a potent 150kW and 350Nm. It adds a range of AMG items, including unique 18-inch alloy wheels, an AMG styling package, AMG sports suspension, and a sports steering wheel.

Lastly, the mighty CLA 45 AMG. Based on the ballistic little A 45 AMG, power comes from a heavily tuned 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing an incredible 265kW and 450Nm. It’s the world’s most powerful production 2.0-litre, offering an insane specific output of 132.5kW/L.

All of that grunt is harnessed and sent through a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, helping to sling-shot the CLA from 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The top speed is limited to 270km/h.

  1. Am I the only one that sees the ugly thing in the middle of the otherwise good looking dash?. Built for kids who need 24/7 gadget in their face. It looks like an afterthought and a safety hazard. Please Mercedes, get rid of it.
