The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is celebrating its 10th birthday this year, and to mark the occasion, Jeep Australia is introducing a 10th Anniversary Edition of the super-rugged off-roader.

Equipped with enough off-road kit to get you through pretty much any decent 4×4 track, the Rubicon sits at the top of the SUV food chain and is regarded as one of the most capable all-terrain vehicles currently on the market.

The local arm is planning to introduce just 30 examples of this edition, including 12 two-door versions and 18 four-door wagon versions. Both come with a 1.5-inch ride height increase, Goodyear Wrangler tyres wrapped onto unique satin black 17-inch Rubicon alloy wheels, and a bespoke ‘Power Dome’ bonnet with dual intake vents.

Other exclusive features include Mopar rock rails, a fuel filler door and taillight guards, and a three-piece Freedom hardtop. Various ’10th Anniversary’ logos are spread throughout, including on the red leather seats. The limited edition will also come in two distinct colours; white and a new Anvil colour.

Veronica Johns, president and CEO at Fiat Chrysler Group Australia, recently spoke about the new variant, saying,

“The Wrangler Rubicon has been designed for the Jeep brand’s most passionate enthusiasts and we expect this exclusive expression of the nameplate to be keenly sought after, as it offers an unprecedented level of capability straight from the showroom floor.”

Like the regular Rubicon, power comes from a 3.6.-litre naturally aspirated Pentastar V6 engine producing 209kW and 347Nm. It’s matched up to a six-speed manual transmission, or an optional five-speed auto.

Hardcore off-road components such as Dana 44 axles with a 4.1:1 axle ratio, Tru-Lok electronic remote-locking differentials front and rear, a Rock-Trac transfer case with a 4:1 low range, and an electronic front sway bar disconnect system are part of the package.

Pricing for the special edition is as follows (excluding on-road costs):

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition two-door – $49,000
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition four-door – $53,000
(Automatic transmission option – $2000)
