Save the date Ford fans, the new 2015 Ford Falcon XR8 will make its official public debut at the Melbourne art Gallery ‘Outside The Oval’ event next month.

The special exhibition is being put together by the employees at the Ford Design Centre, showcasing various Ford pieces such as a ‘body-in-white’ 2015 Falcon which features images of the team behind the 2015 Falcon.

The special artwork, called the Falcon Art Car, has been a four-month project undertaken by senior clay model-maker Peter Watson. Watson has been spending his own time putting the project together. Watson said,

“I really wanted to show the human side behind the industrial nature in the production/ manufacturing of our vehicles here at Ford. There’s a lot of passion right across the company and I wanted to capture that.”

Ford will be showcasing up to 30 pieces of artwork created by the Ford Design Team at the event. The highlight of course will be the 2015 Falcon XR8, presenting the public with its first chance to get up close to the new model. Todd Willing, Ford Design Director, spoke about the event in a statement, saying,

“We’re very proud of the execution of the XR8 – as well as all the entire Falcon range – and we’re proud of the people that engineered and built it. The exhibition will show another side to the Ford Design Team.”

No further details on the XR8 have been revealed. As far as we know it will be powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 producing around 335kW, backed by a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The event will take place at the gallery in Melbourne on October 4 and 5. Entry is free.
